LONDON, April 21 — Nottingham Forest revived their Champions League hopes with a 2-1 win over struggling Tottenham Hotspur yesterday, halting a two-game losing streak and piling more pressure on Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou.
BUKIT MERTAJAM, March 24 — Human Resources Minister Steven Sim has urged volunteer team members contributing to the Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) to report any work-related incidents to ensure they benefit from the Self-Employed Social Security Scheme (SKSPS).
Sim pointed out that many volunteers, especially those from the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), remain unaware of their eligibility for the scheme.
He explained, “If volunteers, such as APM members, are injured or involved in an accident while on duty, they must report it to PERKESO. Support can only be provided if incidents are reported. We encourage APM offices to reach out to their nearest PERKESO branch for assistance.”
Sim made these remarks while speaking to reporters after attending a Public Preparedness Programme celebrating APM’s 63rd anniversary, alongside a community iftar at Dewan Orang Ramai Permatang Pasir last night.
During the event, PERKESO presented SKSPS benefits to 24-year-old Seberang Perai Tengah APM member Muhammad Syazwan Shopiee, who was bitten by a venomous Malayan Krait on February 23 while on duty. Syazwan was attempting to secure the rescued snake in a container when it bit his right thumb. He spent 20 days in intensive care and remains on medical leave.
“I’m still unable to walk properly,” Syazwan said. As a contributor to Perkeso under the SKSPS, he receives RM700 in monthly benefits. — Bernama
