SEPANG, April 6 — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto arrived in Malaysia today for a meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim scheduled for tonight.

SEPANG, April 6 — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto arrived in Malaysia today for a meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim scheduled for tonight.

His special aircraft touched down at the Bunga Raya Complex, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at 5.52pm, accompanied by his delegation.

Upon arrival, Prabowo was greeted by the Prime Minister’s Principal Private Secretary, Datuk Shahrol Anuwar Sarman, and received an honorary welcome by a static guard of honour comprising 28 personnel from the 1st Battalion of the Royal Ranger Regiment (Ceremonial), led by Captain Nor Saifullah Mahmad @ Mohammed.

Prabowo is set to hold a meeting with Anwar, followed by a private engagement, before departing later tonight.

This marks his third official visit to Malaysia since assuming the presidency in October 2024.

Foreign media reported that the meeting is held in conjunction with the Aidilfitri celebration and is seen as a gesture of respect towards Anwar as a prominent ASEAN leader.

Malaysia officially takes on the ASEAN Chairmanship this year, with the 2025 theme focusing on Inclusivity and Sustainability.

Malaysia previously held the ASEAN Chair in 1977, 1997, 2005, and 2015.

In 2023, Indonesia ranked as Malaysia’s seventh-largest trading partner globally and third-largest within ASEAN, with total trade valued at RM111.21 billion (USD24.39 billion). Between January and October 2024, bilateral trade reached RM95.50 billion (USD20.75 billion), compared to RM94.37 billion (USD20.69 billion) during the same period in 2023. — Bernama
